Your Chance to Step Up & Step In

We all know that desired change does not come about on its own.  We all need to play a part to STEP UP and STEP IN to let our voices be heard make a difference.

This week in Jefferson City folks from Manchester UMC and from around the state gathered to participate in PROMO's opening day kick-off for Equality Day.  The event held on Tues., February 14th (appropriately Valentine's Day) was the opportunity to ask legislators to keep anti LGBTQ+ bills off the books and to add LGBTQ+ language to Missouri's Nondiscrimination Act (MONA).

PROMO is Missouri's statewide organization advocating for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender equality through legislative action, electoral politics, grassroots organizing, and community education.

If you were unable to attend the PROMO event, You can still support the effort by calling your State Senator, Representatives and the Governor's office and request the following:

  • Ask that your representatives take action to extend the existing Human Rights Statutes to include LGBT+ persons in MONA  Read More...
  • Let them know that you oppose SB: 98 that's been filed and is in committee.  It's harmful to transgender persons in addition to being an economic disaster since corporations would likely pull out (think North Carolina and Texas).  Read More...

Don’t know who your state legislative representative are?  Here’s a list:  http://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup/default.aspx/leg_lookup.aspx

Joining me in Jefferson City this week was from left to right Barb & Dave Warmbrodt and Fern Burnett.
